   Lead stearate is a white powder, insoluble in water, soluble in hot ethanol, benzene and turpentine, dissolved in organic solvents heated and cooled to become a gel, in the case of strong acid decomposition into stearic acid and the corresponding salt, has moisture absorption.

Applications

1. Lead stearate can be used as a heat stabilizer and lubricant of polyvinyl chloride, with good lubricity and photothermal stability. It    has good synergistic effect barium soap or organotin compounds, and can be used for a variety of opaque hard and soft PVC products, such as hard pipe, hard board, sheet, film and artificial leather, especially suitable for wire and cable materials, which can give products excellent electrical properties. This product is toxic, easy to be contaminated by sulfide, easy to spray when the amount is large, and its lead chloride generated by the reaction with hydrogen chloride in the resin during the processing will affect the transparency of the product. This product can also be used as a drying agent and a polishing agent for paint and a thickening agent for grease, such as PVC 70ºC sheath grade cable material, 90ºC and 105ºC cable material, PVC pipe, pipe fittings, shaped pipe, hard plate, shoe material, etc. Because this product is insoluble in water, it can also be used in the formulation of rigid polyvinyl chloride drinking water pipes.
2. Used in oilfield chemicals as a lubricant release agent and a defoamer for drilling fluids. Also used as paint anti-precipitation agent, fabric drainage agent, lubricating oil thickening agent, plastic heat stabilizer, etc., for opaque soft and hard PVC products stabilizer.
